Hi, my name is Elsa. I was born and raised in a Mayan community in Guatemala. I enjoy meeting new people because it's fascinating to listen to their experiences and goals in life. Also, having conversations about differences and similarities between our cultures and ideas is always an enriching experience.我的教學經歷
I consider myself a patient and passionate teacher. I understand the struggles that sometimes come with the learning process, but I also know the rewarding results after some practice. Talking about a wide variety of topics is one of my favorite parts of teaching because, as an open-minded person, I like learning from my students' points of view about all kinds of subjects. But I also get to share facts and information that can be interesting and important to them.我的課程內容與教學風格
Conversations are one of the most important elements of my classes. After some grammar, I like my students to use what they learn by speaking and making connections with their personal or professional experiences. I think grammar is important because it is a shortcut to understand the structure and patterns of a language. But I also use a lot of content for practice such as videos, songs, poems, stories, written exercises and many other interesting materials.我的教材

Enseñanza del Español Como Segundo Idioma - Universidad InterNaciones e INGUAT - 2016Para obtener este certificado necesitaba tener el título en Magisterio o tener experiencia laboral como Maestra de Español Como Segundo Idioma. En mi caso, contaba con experiencia laboral; por lo que la escuela para la que trabajaba en ese momento, me seleccionó para participar. En el diplomado aprendí varias metodologías para la enseñanza del español, lo cual me capacita para impartir clases a estudiantes extranjeros.

I spent several months learning K'iche' with Elsa, as well as several weeks practicing my Spanish with her before heading to Guatemala. Her guidance really helped me get the most out of my trip! I was thrilled to be able to recognize some K'iche' words in the markets of Chichicastenango, and I spoke Spanish with confidence for the first time in my life. Thank you Elsa, for helping me develop my skills. I look forward to many more lessons as I continue my journey into K'iche'.
