You can call me Lisa. I'm a TEFL- and TESOL-certified English teacher. I've been teaching English for over six years and Indonesian for about four years. English has been my primary means of communication within my family for almost 24 years. I am enthusiastic and passionate about teaching, and most of my students say I'm very patient and easy to talk to.
My hobbies include editing videos, playing video games on consoles or mobile devices, driving, watching anime and movies, cooking, and listening to music. In the gaming world, I'm known as Katzen or Kutekatzen. Just like in real life, I'm also very talkative online and enjoy chatting with lots of people! :D我的教學經歷
Most people, including my language partners, say that I'm very patient, warm, enthusiastic, open-minded, and fun! (Sometimes, I can be a little silly). Haha.
In most cases, people seem to feel comfortable around me after just a few conversations. So, if you're shy or introverted, you'll likely feel at ease talking to me in a relatively short time. Some important factors to consider about my classes are that I use unlimited broadband internet and Zoom Pro for online teaching. As a result, my internet connection and classes are usually very stable, ensuring a pleasant learning experience.

FOR ADULTS:

2003 - 2006
Operational ManagerProNet was an internet cafe located at a mall in South Jakarta area, that provides internet browsing, online gaming, and also other services such as printing, image editing, document editing, etc. My responsibilities were to ensure the customers' satisfactions, the well being of the employees, and also to maintain the good communication with software companies, such as Microsoft Asia, BSA (Business Software Alliance), as well as taking care of the legal matters on behalf of the company.
2010 - 2012
Forex TraderTrading GBPUSD, EURUSD, and EURUSD currencies through a financial institution/FOREX broker (I used NORTH FINANCE and FXCM). The trading methods I used were combining the fundamental and technical trading. As a trader, I had to be able to have some knowledge about trading, such as financial terms, market movements, political events, brokers' policies, etc. Additionally, my knowledge on how to use the trading software such as Metatrader was a bonus.
2014 - 2016
Web Rater/Search Engine EvaluatorIt was an online, freelance job, where I was responsible for checking and rating websites on the internet.
2017 - 2023
English & Indonesian TutorTeaching English and Indonesian, both online and offline classes.
2019 - 2023
Independent ContractorIt's an online and part time job where Independent Contractors are taking part in a variety of projects, including but not limited to image annotations, video annotations, translations, transcribing, surveys, search engine optimization, etc. It is mandatory for Independent Contractors to speak and use English for communication and for completing the projects.

I had a great session with Lisa today, and we covered many useful expressions commonly used in everyday conversations in Indonesia. The lesson was not only informative but also fun, as Lisa always makes the material easy to understand. I'm feeling more confident in applying what I've learned to real-life situations. I have learnt Bahasa Indo with 7 teachers and Guru Lisa is the best teacher I have had.
Guru Lisa has great teaching methodology. She speaks to me in Bahasa 80% of the time at a level I can understand. We practice a lot in our lessons and I was able to learn good expressions that my Indonesian friends commended me on. One even asked if I grew up in Indo!
After my lessons with her, my latest trip to Indonesia was much different than before. I could converse much better and recognize more words on road signs (by learning imbuhan), especially with all the political campaign posters. I brought my parents around, spoke to the receptionists, drivers, and servers confidently from all the practice. Drivers in JKT are curious and friendly when they hear a foreigner speaking Indo, so I was happy to be able to chat with them in Bahasa.
Guru Lisa is also very hardworking. She is always early for lessons, takes notes in class and cleans them up to share later so I can focus on understanding.

I always enjoy lessons, and today in particular as Lissa came up with a new way of learning! Today she brought some informal sentences used in daily life for me to translate to English and I think it was both fun and useful. 🙂🙂
