They share many similar words, like familia (family) and casa (house). 2. False Friends: Despite their similarities, some words look alike but have completely different meanings. For example, embarazada in Spanish means "pregnant," not "embarrassed"! 3. Pronunciation Differences: Portuguese has a nasal sound that doesn’t exist in Spanish. Compare mão (hand in Portuguese) with mano (hand in Spanish). 4. Global Reach: Spanish is spoken by over 500 million people worldwide, while Portuguese is the official language of 8 countries! Não planejei viajar até lá, mas a sorte me levou até a cidade. E quando a vida dá limões, a gente faz uma limonada! Foi uma noite e uma manhã. Pouco tempo, mas suficiente para experienciar a hospitalidade do recifense, conhecer lugares legais (visitei também Olinda, mas isso eu conto depois) e já notar que o recifense sente muito orgulho de sua terra linda. A cidade também recebe muitos estrangeiros. Você já conhece?
