My main focus in your lesson is to allow you to communicate effectively in Afrikaans. My aim is for you to develop an "Afrikaans ear" so that you are able to understand, and then respond in your new language. One of the key features in learning a new language is to LOVE the language, and I will help you to enjoy speaking and reading, and nurture a love for Afrikaans. We will chat about easy, everyday things to allow you to feel relaxed. Although I am an English-speaking South African, I taught Afrikaans for 40 years, and my husband was also Afrikaans speaking, so I am completely fluent and I truly love the language. We will adapt our discussions as we go along and I will introduce different ways of helping you. This will depend on your progress. Please don't be afraid of this new language. Once I show you the ropes, you are going to love it! If you are a SA learner, it does not matter which grade you are in, I can help you! I am very patient and by building a good relationship together, we can conquer all your fears!

This lesson is for the beginner speaker. We will choose a topic together and chat in a very informal way. I will guide you and teach you various words / vocabulary as we go. I am also very willing to help you with rules etc.
