These lessons are designed to help you prepare for the IELTS or Cambridge tests. We will focus on the four skills required for the test. In addition, vocabulary will be developed and grammar topics will be looked at in context.

Exam Preparation IELTS/Cambridge

These lessons are designed to help you prepare for the Cambridge Suite of exams. These lessons can focus on whichever level of test you are preparing for: KET, PET. These will focus on the specific skills required for the test. In addition, vocabulary will be developed and grammar topics will be looked at in context.

These classes are for free conversation. Each lesson can cover any topics you are interested in. There are no materials so the whole time will be spent in conversation.

These lessons are for anyone wishing to improve their all round English skill. Lessons will be designed just for you so can focus on any topics or skills you choose.

General English

These lessons are to support students with school or university work. I can also support you with applications to UK schools and universities.

Academic English School and University Support

I prepared students for Cambridge Suite examinations, supported academic progress across curriculum subjects and helped with applications to university, including personal statement writing and IELTS preparation. I worked with students from across the world from including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mexico, Chile, Thailand, Japan, France, Spain, Poland, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Turkey.

I taught English one to one and in small groups to prepare students for Cambridge examinations including IELTS.

I taught General English courses to adults and teenaged learners from beginner to Advanced, including short exam preparation courses.

I supported international students with all aspects of university level writing across a diverse range of subjects from Ceramics to Neuroscience. I also led small group workshops on conventions of undergraduate university writing.

I taught General English one to one and in small groups to students from the age of 3 to 70.

I was required to research and write about specific assessment systems for English language learners, these included Cambridge suite examinations and IELTS. I have also taught these examinations across institutions for 10 years.

An extension module to the Cambridge CELTA offered by the training institution. We studied methodology and materials suitable for the teaching of English to Young Learners. In addition, I worked for 8 years in British Independent schools teaching students from the age of 9 - 18.

I teach online and face to face English lessons one to one. My students range from school aged to adults. Some students work towards recognised examinations, while others enjoy exploring literature, history, philosophy or politics through discussion, reading, listening and writing. The variety of one to one teaching is rewarding and enjoyable.

I established a volunteer refugee teaching programme. I recruited qualified English language teachers following safer recruitment practices. I assessed the needs of tutees and matched them to tutors. I also undertook tutoring myself. The programme ran for 18 months until it was no longer needed.
