There Is a Bird on Your Head!" is a funny book for kids by Mo Willems. It's about two friends, Gerald the elephant and Piggie the pig. Gerald finds a bird on his head, and they try to figure out what to do. I hope you enjoy hearing this story told by me, Teacher Amanda. Tom:是的。

Lily:他多大了?

Tom:他9了。

Lily:9了？你是想说他9岁是吗？

Tom:是的，我的一个中国朋友说他35了，所以我弟弟9了。

Lily:其实在口语中，回答年龄时，1到10需要加“岁”，10以上可以不加“岁”。比如“我28”或者“我28了”，又或者“我28岁了”，都正确，所以你弟弟多大了？

Tom:嗯～他9了

Lily: 9了? Are you trying to say he's 9 years old?

Tom: Yes, a Chinese friend of mine said he was 35le, so my brother is 9了.

Lily: Actually, in spoken language, when answering age, 1 to10 need to add "years old", more than 10 can not  add "years old".For example  I'm 28 or I'm 28了, or I'm 28岁了，All right, so how old is your brother?

Tom: Hmm~ he's 9了

A smile, a “hello” and a “how are you” will make an immediate
positive impression. Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles, and
you will soon be saying “hello” and smiling with more people than
you can remember.
TOP TIP: When referring to the self in Thai, as in “I”, there is a
form for male and a form for female, just as there is with khrup and
ka. Men say “Phom”, and women say “Chan”, or “Di-chan” when
speaking very politely.
There are also forms where age is concerned. When speaking to
an elder, you should refer to that person as “Pii”. To get the
attention of an elder you would say, “Pii khrup/ka”. To get the
attention of a younger person you would say, “Nong khrup/ka”.
When referring to a child you can use the word “Luuk”, which
literally means child.

今日はとても、に似た表現について。
英語を勉強していると、1つの意味でもいろんな表現や言い方がありますね。

例えば、
very
so
extremely 
awfully 
really 
terrible 
pretty 

など、ありますね。あってますかね。

日本語の同じような表現でとても、という言葉がありますので、これに似た表現を紹介します！

とても
　ー彼はとても頭がいい。
すごく
　ー今日はすごく忙しい日です。
たいへん
　ー電車は大変混雑しています。
非常に
　ー非常に難しい状況です。
本当に
　ー本当に感謝しています。
おおいに
　ーおおいに楽しんでください。
すこぶる
　ーすこぶる調子がいい。

関西弁だと、
めっちゃ
　ーめっちゃ暑いやん！
ほんまに
　ーほんまに忙しいわー。
えらい
　ーえらい多い人やな。

とか言いますね。

いろんな言葉をうまく使うと、日本語の表現の幅が広がります。ぜひ、いろいろと使って話す練習をしてみてくださいね！
