Antares
Hi friends!🤔In this sentence correct? 'I genuinely hope that more good news could be posted on the media to break our cold exteriors and touch something soft in our hearts.' And is there a better word to replace 'break'?🧐

Besides what others have told you, I would like to add something. 1.) It would be much better to replace “good” with “positive”, which becomes positive news. 2.) “break our cold exterior and touch something soft in our heart” makes me feel so written English. I prefer not to use it in speaking. Because normally people don’t speak like that. I hope it helps~

I would probably write "by the media" instead of "on the media". otherwise it sounds like you have a pretty good grasp of the language to be able to express yourself this way. a couple thoughts: I agree with Adrian that if you want to use the description of "cold exterior" that a word like thaw would be better than break. since cold implies that we have been frozen

Hi Antares, this is excellent, i think the word ‘thaw’ which means to defrost or to melt would be great here as you are talking about ‘our cold exteriors’. I hope that this helps :)

Maybe you could use the phrasal verb 'break down'. Hope this helps;)
