"A man is born free but everywhere he is in chains."
I had an interesting conversation with someone yesterday. He said, “ A lifetime is a long time, sometimes we also need to breathe from each other."In this context, he was talking about having enough space from his wife or his wife should allow him a little freedom. A famous philosopher Rousseau said, “Man is born freed, and everywhere he is in chains." What do you think of this? A different people can interpret this differently, it depends on their experiences and background. I think men and women, and general desire freedom or even dream of absolute freedom, but due to some circumstances, his/her freedom is limited. When I say freedom, I am not just talking about physical freedom, of course, sometimes it's psychological and even emotional. I don’t think there is such a thing as absolute freedom. When you get married or have kids, you have less freedom, it is the same thing for people who married their jobs. We all have our own experiences with freedom and the lack of it. I am happy with the right amount of “freedom.” But I also agree with Rousseau, we are somehow chained in many ways and aspects.

How important is freedom for you?  The philosopher Rousseau said, “Man is born freed, and everywhere he is in chains." What do you think of this?

Well I guess there is no way out of this! The thing is to be happy while you are chained. In other words to chain yourself with things that may make you cheered.

@Mohammed It's great to be chained if it is with the right person I guess.

@Samaneh That is true. In some communities, women have less freedom than men. There are differences in our environment as well that poses some restrictions.

I endorse Pavlína.
But I think, we aren't alone. We live in society and family in smaller dimensions. Each society has many different and particular restrictions and also rules. In many cases, we must follow the community. These issues would be limit us in different situations. Thank you for sharing Florian K.
