I've been learning Spanish from some sources that use Latin American pronunciation, but I'm learning Spanish with the intention of using it in Spain. Can a native speaker explain what the Spanish might think of a European pronouncing with the seseo sound? Will it affect communication at all? Thanks in advance.
Matt, I have just leave you a comment about your conceern, and I think I didn't understand the question peoperly, but in a second reading I noted what you are concerned. The seseo accent from some countries in South America doesn't affect your communication at all with Spanish people.
Hi Matt, in my opinion the seseo what many English people make while speaking Spanish, doesn't damage the communication at all. We in Spain notice that who is in front of us comes from abroad trough that kind of accent, but that is all, no worries.
About ceceo, I think that it comes from south Spanish people like the ones from Andalucia, specifically Malaga, Cadiz and Sevilla. They usually change the S sound for Z like for example in the name JESUS they say JEZÚ, or even SEVILLA they say ZEVILLA. BUT in the remaining country we know that and cope with this way of speaking. To be honest, sometimes it's hard to understand them when speaking fast.
