Nomminication; nomu ( to drink) +communication
In Japan, we have a word " nommunication"
It is combined word "nomu" (to drink) in Japanese and "communication" in English made by Japanese, and it means " To associate with boss and his staff by drinking together".
For example, one of the boss called" Jyousi", a person who takes responsibility of managing his " Buka" (it means "staff" in English) , makes a plan to get his staff (buka) together to drink several times. At that time, they go to some restaurant or izakaya ( Japanese style bar), and drink beer or sake together.
While they are drinking, buka should take care of jyousi. For example, buka must refill jousi's beer glass which is called " oshaku" to show respect for jyosi everytime. In stead of this, jyosi will listen to buka's complaint about job and give him a advice of this. Jyosi will also treat buka's drinking bill. Buka feels grateful for jyosi and get enargy of working his company again.
In japan, we think drinking as one of the tools of communication, because when we drink beer or sake, we can be more relaxed and are tend to say something more free than we are in a sober.
Nowadays, any of young Japanese people doesn't feel comfortable about the " nommunication" because they don't want to spend their spare time with jyosi. It is understandable for me a little bit because we Japanese usually work overtime, and want to spend spare time with family or friends.
However, if we get involved in " nommunnication", we can get not only job advice but also life advice from jyousi and we might get some connection with another person.
Nommunication is a kind of old Japanese style, but we can look over the advanttage from it.
