Throw "Throw" means to send something from your hand through the air by moving your hand or arm quickly. We threw our hats in the air at the end of the ceremony. Toss "Toss" means to throw something with a quick, light motion. She tossed the paper into the recycling bin. Chuck "Chuck" means to throw something carelessly. Someone has chucked a butt at me. Hurl "Hurl" means to throw something violently. He hurled a rock through the window.

All are synonyms with different connotations. But the most important thing, to me, is that "chuck" isn't used much anymore in the US. And when it WAS used, like 15 years ago, it was only used by young kids. I've talked to my friends about this, about how people don't say "chuck" anymore. And adults never really ever used it.

Between is for distinct items or people and among is for a relationship between the units of a group. - I couldn't choose between vanilla, chocolate, apple and lemon ice cream. - I was sitting between two very sexy women so it made me a little uncomfortable. - Are there any among you who speak English? - The news of the merger created fear among the employees.
