Il parrucchiere oppure la parrucchiera Does the gender of the definite article change if the hairdresser is a male to IL PARRUCCHIERE and for the ladies its will be LA PARRUCCHIERA? Would this also apply to IL BARBERIERE and LA BARBERIERA?

Il PARRUCCHIERE (man), la PARRUCCHIERA (woman) (I am sure). Il barbiere (man), la barbiere (woman) (I think). Actually I never met a barbiere woman, and I don't cut my hair..

Ciao Juha! Il parrucchiere (male) La parrucchiera (female) The question "Barbiere/Barbiera" requires, in my view, a more extensive treatment... I always heard only the male version "Barbiere" and never (really never) the female version "Barbiera". This is for a reason quite practical: the "Barbiere" is the one who cuts the beard to men (and, more extensively, the hair) but does not, of course, to women. It's a professionalism originates from the male needs to shave. I don't think there are women who do the "Barbiera", instead there are women who cut hair to men (and vice versa). Ps. I confirm, it's "IL" for a male worker and "LA" for a female worker. But a "barbiere" can only be male, so you will never find "La barbiera".
