Difference between There is and There exists? Hello everyone, Could you please tell me the difference between There is ... and There exists ...? I found There exists... on a paper. And I could not reach the answer on Internet. Your advice would be great help. Thank you.

Both have the same meaning. "There exists" is more formal. It is especially used in mathematical axioms, proofs etc. There exists a bijection of every odd number to an even number.

The verb 'exist' has a meaning about existence so 'there is/are' is a pattern which you can use without a verb like exist for existence.
