Reflexive verbs are used when we want to explain something that we are doing (in any tense, past, present, future) for ourselves in any person (you for you, I for me, he/she for him/her, we for us, etc) Example: In first person: I wake up = Yo me despierto. (Add pronoum reflexive "me" before verb because it means like "yo") You can know what form is correct for the verb if you say think the same without "me" -> Yo despierto But if you say only that, maybe it's not clear who are you waking up, so for let know who, you need the pronoun: "me", and that mean I wake up to myself. In second person: You wake up = Tú te despiertas (Add pronoum reflexive "te" before verb because it means like "tú") You can know what form is correct for the verb if you say think the same without "te" -> Tú despiertas The same with other tenses and person: They get up = Ellos se levantan (Pronoun reflexive "se", verb in present tense, in third person) Ellos levantan. (Who do get up?) ¿A quién levantan ellos? Is clear who performs the action but no on whom the action falls, so in spanish is necessary to say on whom, and this is with the pronoun reflexive. Ellos se levantan a sí mismos. Si no lo dices, se podría entender que ellos levantan algo o alguien que no son a sí mismos necesariamente. They got up = Ellos se levantaron (Pronoun reflexive "se", verb in past tense, in third person) I hope helping to you.
