difference between "didn't CROSS MY MIND" , "didn't COME TO MY MIND" and "didn't OCCUR TO ME" ? what's the difference between - it didn't cross my mind that... - it didn't come to my mind that... - it didn't occur to me that... The meaning I am looking for is like something that I haven't thought of it, because I forgot. e.g 1) I was taking a bus and ____________ that the avenue was blocked due to the new year's eve so I had to take the train to get home. e.g 2) I was trying to get there quickly but what really didn't _________ that the bus doesn't stop in that stop. I'll be very glad if you can tell me the differences in usage of the sentences above. Thanks in advance and happy holidays!!!

Come to mind is used when you are talking about the present moment. "Any problems?" "None come to mind." Cross my mind is usually in past tense. "Shutting the door didn't cross my mind."

Rafeala, The expressions, 'It didn't cross my mind', and 'It didn't occur to me' are interchangable. 'It didn't come to my mind' is a little awkward and not really used. Allan

it didn't occur to me that. is a bit more articulate and is not used commonly but you will be thought to be more intelligent to say it in that way by some people, it didn't cross my mind that is less formal, (it didn't come to my mind that...) , is awkward and there is no reason to really say it in that way, aside from that they are interchangeable

Hi! There really isn't any difference between the three phrases. You can use them interchangeably. Depending on which one you feel like using, you can pick which phrase you want to use. :) Hope this helps!
