Are noise and sound countable or uncountable? “There is a lot of noises or there is a lot of noise?”. "There is a lot of sounds or there is a lot of sound?. Thanks in advance. :)

They're both "The noise was deafening" uncountable "I heard the noises of a few different animals" countable Also your first examples should be "there are" as the nouns are plural :)

Yes, noises and sounds are countable. If I say, "there are a lot of noises," I am saying that there are noises coming from many different things. I could say that a flute and a trumpet make different sounds. In your example you said, "there is a lot of sound." This is correct, but sound means volume in this case. It means that the sound is loud. Sounds are countable, but volume is not.
