What's the difference between went and gone ? Please explain in details

Hi, There's a difference in the timing of when the action happened. (one is past and the other is past perfect) For example: "I went to the shop yesterday" - there's only one action that you are talking about in the past Gone is the past participle of the verb "to go" and can be used for the past perfect tense which describes something that happens before something else. For example: I had already gone to the shop before I went to the cinema.

You would use went: I went, she went , they went, we all went .... exp: to the store Gone: has been gone, has gone Went tends to be past tense, she went to the store (referring to an even occurring in the past) Gone: depending on the environment can be present or past... she is gone (present).
