The travel lessons with Chie have been great. They have given me the confidence to try conversing with native speakers during my trip to Japan and that is sometimes half the battle. Would absolutely recommend the course to anyone planning travel to Japan.

Today was my 100th lesson with Chie-san, who I started studying with in November, 2021. She is always informative, cheerful, and helpful. In particular, she has the uncanny ability to transcribe our weekly conversation, with notes, which then serve as a personalized textbook for me to review later on. She is really an extraordinary teacher.

I have been taking regular weekly lessons with Chie-san for several months now. She is a very conscientious teacher and will answer your questions thoroughly. We have a system where I can put down questions that I have in advance and she will go through them at the next lesson. She always has well-prepared answers that she explains well. She is also very approachable such that you feel comfortable asking her anything. She is also mindful of where you are at in your language study and will cater her lessons to meet your needs (eg she incorporates short conversations in our lessons to help me with my speaking ability). I really enjoy my lessons with her!

I had now about 15 lessons with Chie-san before going to Japan for the first time. It was always super nice with her! Her creative way of teaching is very nice. And I think I'm ready for the challenge now. To get some background info and tips & trinks will be super helpful. Thank you so much for everything :)

I write this review after completing the travel course with Chie-sensei. The course was highly informative, covering essential topics and phrases that I’m certain will prove to be invaluable during my upcoming trip to Japan. A destination where English isn’t widely spoken so learning basic Japanese is often recommended. Chie-sensei made that process enjoyable and effective. She is a thoughtful, patient teacher who provided constant encouragement throughout. The lessons combined textbook materials and scenario-based role-playing, reinforced my learning far more than a typical online course might. Her local knowledge also added great value, giving me more cultural and practical insights for my trip. This was my first experience using the italki platform, and I’m very happy with the results and would recommend. As with any course, your progress depends on the time and effort you invest. However, after completing this course, I feel much more confident in my Japanese proficiency.

Another great lesson, Sensei Chie has been able adapt the teaching material so that they included destinations and locations I intend to visit on my trip. This includes adding phrases that I will require at these locations. This results in the lessons be more useful and tailored for my needs than generic textbooks lessons I have been previously studying. Her local knowledge of Japan helps greatly in this area.
