Greetings! My name is Kai, a student at Osaka University, one of Japan’s leading institutions. Since my teenage years, I’ve volunteered to support foreign students in adapting to Japanese schools, teaching Japanese and providing guidance in both Japanese and English. At university, I’ve continued this work, living alongside people from around the world and gaining firsthand insights into the challenges of learning Japanese. Growing up in Kyoto, with its rich cultural traditions, I attended a Buddhist temple-affiliated school. This unique background enables me to share both linguistic and cultural knowledge, whether you’re starting with hiragana or refining your academic Japanese. Kai is a very skilled and patient teacher. He understood my needs and adapted the lesson materials to cater to them. He is very knowledgeable and has given me a lot of new bits of information about how real Japanese is used, in contrast to 'textbook' Japanese.
When we practice conversational Japanese, he speaks in a natural way, which is useful for getting me used to the normal speed of Japanese speech, even though it means that it's too quick for me to understand sometimes.
I look forward to more lessons, and improving my speaking and listening skills!
