Gen Ueda

Gen-san has been a great teacher thus far! He's well prepared for each session, with topics that are covered in an easy-to-follow format. He gives plenty of examples, and carefully guides me along. I'm looking forward to many more sessions with Gen!

Gen suggests useful phrase to supplement my explanation. I learned a lot of vocabulary from his lesson.

Meeting Gen was such a pleasure! He's so friendly and chill. We introduced ourselves, discussed his teaching style and my goals for learning Japanese, and then dove into the basics. This is a me-thing, but I was initially nervous because I will primarily be speaking English in class as I am starting from zero Japanese (I'm used to speaking the TL in lessons), but he made me feel comfortable before, during, and after lessons. Still, he was so patient with my zero Japanese level, showing me the ropes without it feeling too classroomy. He utilizes a doc, which is fantastic for visual and hand-on learners like myself to review in and out of lessons. I'm amazed at his English, and for beginners, it's fantastic to have someone who knows English explain concepts to me. This was my first-ever Japanese lesson, and I cannot ask for a better tutor to begin my Japanese journey. Thanks, and I'll see you again!
