Tuân Huỳnh

I've been taking lessons with Tuân for nearly 4 months and my Vietnamese has improved greatly! I started taking lessons to speak with my in laws and can now hold basic conversations. 4 months of lessons have done more for my skills than years of apps, books, and self study. I started taking lessons so that way I can continue the language and culture for my unborn son. Tuân teaching style is engaging and practical, which makes language acquisition fun and purposeful. I used to take lessons once a week, but now take them 3 times a week. I will be very sad to take a short break during my maternity leave. I look forward to resuming lessons until I've mastered fluency! I have even occasionally found myself to be dreaming in Vietnamese and encouraging my friends and (non-Viet) family to start taking italki lessons as well! You can tell that Tuân is passionate about teaching, sharing in cultural exchange, and has genuine interest in your development as a speaker!

Tuân is very knowledgeable in language learning, and is able to make difficult concepts easy to understand. I love the cultural exchange we had in the last couple of lessons!

We had a very interesting lesson on Tết traditions in the north and in the south. Tuân is a teacher who is ready to explain you something you don’t understand or curious about, find examples, show a map, etc. He does not just follow the script and stick to the plan, but ready to adapt to the student’s needs right at the spot. I appreciate this approach.

Another excellent lesson with Tuân. -He speaks English very well and can explain grammar so it is easy to understand. -He is patient and adapts to my low level of Vietnamese. -Although Vietnamese pronunciation is difficult he shows the correct way to make the sounds. -I have gotten some insights into Vietnamese culture and food also. Recommended!

We have had a trial lesson and I have only positive impression. He is a friendly and open-minded person who has got a unique approach to the teaching and developing his students' skills. He was able to cover some interesting concepts with me during our trial session, I have learnt some cool things I can use in my future conversations in Vietnamese. He is comfortable to be around and he knows how to help you to talk more, even if you are out of ideas.
