I'm tolerant, patient and understanding and I think these qualities are needed to teach things to others. I also love interacting with other people and having good conversations. This is why I think teaching is good for me because I get to talk to people while they get to learn.

English TeacherFor five months (April-July), I worked part-time as an English tutor at American Life in Samsun, Türkiye. Though I’d helped friends before, this was my first formal tutoring job. I taught several 1-hour group conversation classes each week, which helped me gain confidence in speaking to groups and teaching new concepts. I enjoy helping others, and teaching English gives me that rewarding feeling of making a difference.

English TutorI started teaching on Italki as soon as I completed my 120-hour TEFL certificate. I saw it as a way to enter the online market and I soon realized that I enjoyed the one-on-one lessons. I’ve been able to help others improve their communication skills as well as my own. This experience has helped me learn more about myself, and what I want from life and it motivates me to improve.

Studying in a different language was challenging and often demotivating—I even considered quitting. However, I’m glad I persevered. During university, I developed an interest in international trade, especially after taking International Business and Marketing during my third and fourth year. I want to be an expert in this field.
