Hallo, Ich heiße Lea! I am a native Korean speaker. I have a MA degree in Aesthetics from Seoul National University and have a lot of work experience in Korean writing. Over the past 10 years, I've published many essays as a drama and cartoon critic. I also taught Korean writing for middle school students and high school students; worked as a journalist at a university newspaper, and edited undergraduate writings in college. I have many advantages as a tutor: positive personality, open mind, interests in other cultures, passion, and so on. But here, I want to emphasize two things.
First, I've learned English and German conversation with online tutoring. I've met a lot of tutors, and because I am also a student like you, I already know when you're having fun and when you're struggling in online tutoring. Second, I have so many materials for our conversations. I enjoy reading Korean novels, movies, and webtoons, and I know a lot of K-pops and even older popular songs. Whether you want to practice daily conversation, or you need to practice Korean intensively for forthcoming travel, or you prepare for exams such as TOPIK, my classes will proceed following your request.
Basically, my teaching style is as follows. From beginner to intermediate, if we take a 1-hour class, we will warm-up in the first 10 minutes; I mean, we will greet and small-talk. Next 20 minutes, I will teach you basic grammar, vocabulary, expressions, and pronunciations according to each day's goal. And finally, we will have a conversation for around 30 minutes, focusing on that content. If you are advanced level, we can have a more profound discussion based on your interests.教材

Soo-hyang is a really kind, energetic teacher! I am taking lessons to prepare to attend my friend’s wedding in Korea, so I learned a lot about Korean wedding culture and words and comments to use at weddings. I really enjoyed the lesson and I look forward to taking another class and slowly improving my speaking skills!

Soo Hyang 선생님 has catered the lessons to my goals and needs. We are focussing on basic conversation skills that I can use for my upcoming trip to Korea. I am doing 30mins class which sounds short but we get a lot done in this time. Today we covered, some airport words and also how to ask for help.

Soo Hyang-ssi is an excellent teacher who puts a lot of effort to prepare lesson plans & notes beforehand based on my requested content. During the lesson, she types notes into the chat for easy reference. She is very knowledgeable about cultural and linguistic nuances and able to explain these clearly. The lessons are a good balance of her explanations and opportunities for me to practice speaking. She is very patient and encouraging, as well as cheerful and energetic. The pace of the lesson is very good -- energy level and interest remain high throughout, but never overwhelming.
