Yue (Elva) GENG

I love talking with Yue! She is able to quickly and easily translate difficult words from Chinese to English and back again. We are able to talk about some of my favorite topics (spirituality, culture, etc., which normally would be for more advanced Chinese speakers) which I enjoy

I learned Chinese from zero and I thought I would have a mental breakdown after few Chinese lessons, but I am lucky to have Elva as my teacher. She is very patient and supportive for my slow learning process. She always helps me to improve on every class. New words or phrases are always introduced to expand my vocabularies. It was and is still not an easy path but it has been an amazing journey for me to learn Chinese with Elva. I always look forward for my next class with her. 非常感谢耿老师。

To be quite frank with you, I'd totally recommend her to any friend I have that would want to learn Chinese. She's very nice and angelically patient when it come to teaching you pronunciation! She has some great tricks up her selves to help you remember the initials and finals with her own adaptation of the material to make your life easier. If you think about starting with Chinese she's a good choice!

Geng Laoshi (Elva) would rate among a small number of genuinely impressive Chinese teachers I've had over the years. She's sharp, can bring to bear literary Chinese in class, and has an interesting backstory of travel and work that makes discussion anything but dull.

Really great experience! I learned a lot in my first class. In our next lessons we will use her structured approach, where we pick a specific topic to go through during the class (ex. shopping, restaurants, work, etc) and she sends the materials/vocabulary for me to study the day before the class, to be prepared for it and practice it. Already looking forward to my next lesson with Yue! :)
