The words "hanapin" and "diskubre" both relate to finding something, but they have different nuances in Filipino: "Hanapin" (root: hanap) – means "to look for" or "to search." It implies actively seeking something that is already known or expected to exist. Example: Hanapin mo ang nawawalang susi. (Look for the missing key.) "Diskubre" (from Spanish "descubrir") – means "to discover" or "to find out." It suggests finding something new or unknown, often by chance. Example: Nadiskubre niya ang bagong talento niya sa pagkanta. (He/she discovered his/her new talent in singing.) So, "hanapin" is about actively searching for something specific, while "diskubre" is about uncovering or realizing something new.
