Can you, please, comment on my concert review?
Sci-fi films and symphony orchestra? A sensational filmharmonic concert has it all.
Last Friday Prague Rudolfinum hosted a majestic performance of music from science-fiction films. It included twelve pieces from “Dune”, “Interstellar”, “Star Wars”, and other remarkable movies and lasted for about three hours. What is the reason it was such a roaring success? Was it a good idea to combine popular films and symphonic orchestra?
The concert was nothing short of exceptional. Little did I know, at the entrance of the concert hall we would be welcomed by sci-fi characters wearing outstanding costumes. It definitely added some spice to the event. But this is the expressive music that made the whole performance soaring. There were all kinds of instruments, you can name it. The conductor drew out a performance that was both nuanced and controlled, allowing every phrase to shine. Later, the chorus joined in a passage so powerful, it filled the entire hall with a sense of grandeur. Even my fidgety son was on the edge of his seat the whole concert.
As for the drawbacks, I couldn’t find any. Taking into consideration, the concert wasn’t tailored for kids, it was however captivating even for little ones. I guess some kind of interaction might be added to make it easier for the young audience to concentrate. but again, the performance was perfect even without it.
All in all, I would highly recommend this philharmonic event to all who are seeking an emotional grandiose musical event that you won’t be able to forget.
