say "scarcely anybody" or "almost nobody" "scarcely nobody" doesn't make sense

I scarcely knew anybody at the party. However, it’s probably better to say one of the following: I hardly knew anybody at the party. I only knew a few people at the party. I knew next to no-one at the party. I knew only a handful of people at the party.
