Hi David, I think you mean complaint, the noun, what you call when you complain about something, the verb. Compliant means to adhere to some law, or be easily influenced by the opinions of others. Hope that helps! :)

Complaint is a noun. Usually referred in official terms. Basically means a greivance or issue against a person. Example: He filed a formal complaint for his rude behaviour in class. Complain is a verb. Verb is something that describes an action. Like sleep, eat, walk, talk etc. Example: You have everything you ever wanted; why are you still complaining?

To be "compliant" is to be easily persuaded by others and to be willing to do what others tell you to do. (She was a compliant child.) In legal terms, to be "compliant with a certain law" is to be bound to obey that law. In both instances, it is used as an adjective. A "complaint" is a "statement that something is wrong or not satisfactory". (definition from Cambridge dictionary). (I was disappointed with the service at the hotel, so I've made a complaint to the manager.) Sometimes "complaint" is used to refer to an illness. (She came to the doctor because of a stomach complaint.) In these two instances, "complaint" is a noun. I hope you got a clear understanding about the meaning of the two words.

The main difference between complaint and complain is that complaint is a noun whereas complain is a verb, however both shows dissatisfaction. Example. I will complain about the company's Modus operandi. I hope my complaint gets to the right person.
