Xu Xiake, a famous geographer in Ming Dynasty of China, spent over 30 years traveling almost half of China. He visited many remote areas by trekking. He recorded his observation and research results in detail, providing valuable information for future generations.
He corrected the mistakes of river sources in the document through practical investigations. Besides, he detailed the influence of landform, climate and other factors on plants. He also vividly described the famous historic building and local customs. His records were collected by future generations and made into the book The Travels of Xu Xiake that making a wide effect both in China and abroad.
