Hello Jasmine, I hope this helps: The main difference is that hold off is intransitive (it needs a preposition) and put off is transitive (it takes a direct object, usually in the form of a gerund or noun phrase). He held off from telling her he had lied because he was scared she’d leave him She put off going to the doctor until the problem got out of control. Make your sentence using the two.

Hold off = to wait. EX I am going to hold off making the call until tomorrow. Hold off = keep back/away. EX I will hold off the dogs so they don’t attack the little puppy. Hold off = put off/delay. (To wait) EX Let’s hold off and not do that right now.
