Are there any impressive statues or structures in your country and why are they significant?
I actually don't really like it, but in the United States one would have to mention Mount Rushmore National Memorial. It certainly is big. And impressive. And big, very big.
It was intentionally created to attract tourists to South Dakota, and it definitely succeeded. It consists of four 20-meter-tall sculptures of the heads of famous U.S. presidents, sculpted with dynamite into the granite rock of Mount Rushmore. It was more or less completed in the early 1940s--it was originally supposed to have included all of their bodies down to the waist, but it was decided that the heads were good enough.
The sculptures show presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.
It's big.
