Extra Extra - Read all about it! ... Microsoft will continue supporting Skype 7 ... no need to update Skype

In July, Microsoft announced Skype 8.0 was launching on the desktop, and that it would be shutting down version 7.0 (aka Skype Classic) as a result.

The older version would no longer function after September 1, 2018, it had said.
However, the company has now decided to hold off on Skype 7.0’s shutdown for the time being, following significant user backlash.

What to do if you have already downloaded the 8.0 version.

It may be possible to remove the newer (crappy) version and download and re-install the Skype (7.40.0.104) Classic version here:

If you want to know which version you currently have installed:

Very informative, thanks

Edit: The download from that website didn't work for me, you have to find the full setup file, which I found linked on here https://www.winytips.com/download-skype-classic-7-41-101-7-40-104/

Hi Richard

I'm pleased to say that Skype 7.41 functioned perfectly on my Windows 10 home edition. I actually had better performance than with Skype 8.

I'm just a bit lazy, I download and install different versions of software without uninstalling anything and hope for the best :)

I'm using Windows 10 Home, and now have Skype version 7.41.0.101.

I didn't uninstall Skype 8, I simply downloaded and installed Skype 7 and now when I click on the Skype icon version 7 opens. Easy as falling off a log (I hope). I'll find out if it works okay tomorrow when I try it out.
