What is the funniest mistake you have made in a foreign language?
Hello Everyone,

I hope that we are all well this beautiful Saturday morning. I was wondering, what is the funniest mistake you have made in a foreign language?

I have made a couple of bloopers in French and Spanish. In Spanish the classic is confusing pollo with p***a, the difference between asking for chicken and a piece of the male anatomy lets say... In French I got into a car once and asked "Je voudais aller a la guerre" - which is saying I would like to go to war - I meant to say Gare which is train station. Needless to say the taxi driver gave me a quizzical look. I look forward to hearing your responses.

Adam.

No, they were really into Game of Thrones at that time so they thought it was a perfectly valid reason.

I made a lot of funny mistakes. But the one that keeps my husband cracking is me saying in Chinese "Confucius white" (孔子白, Kǒngzǐ bái) instead of "Confucius said" (孔子曰, Kǒngzǐ yuē). I was so sure for a long time that the character's pronunciation was "bái", well, and then when I wanted to appear smart by citing Confucius, I made a fool of me. Now, whenever I mention Confucius my husband bursts out laughing.

I mistakenly hit on a small Japanese guy in a bar in Japan. Now, not only am I straight, but I am also physically quite intimidating to some people, especially in Japan. Took me a while to realize why he was slowly edging away from me like a scared fawn. That took some time explaining away, haha.

I also mixed up my words when doing a self introduction to some people I was having a conversation with in a ramen place. I mistakenly claimed to be 60 years old. Nerves got the better of me. :)
