Now there are less people speak or learn esperanto, what do you think?
Hii Stella :)
English is a language mandatory to learn in Europe and in the country I born we need study 11 years English and 3 years French.
He invented the language with hopes to be the first language and not the English :) I don't think Esperanto is a easy language, because mix a lot the "family" of language, I think is tremendous headache with no purpose.
Natives: 200-2000 (. 1996 est)
Fluent speakers: est. 100 000 at 2 millons.
Not fluent speakers: est. 10 million
Is a Artificial language.
The English is really easy one of the languages more easies.
Why should we put Esperanto in schools, exist movies or songs in Esperanto? Is that a popular language? or just popular for nerds?
Look the exemple of chinise where have a big number of speakers
(I met a young girl and her grandfather was a soldier in Timor and married a Chinese, the grandfather forbidden the wife to teach Chinese to his daughter and granddaughter, the granddaughter are now in China 6 months an intensive course just to learn Chinese every day for several hours a day. A lot of Chinises persons say that we need eight years to speak fluently and correctly Chinese.)
So why should we lose time learning a language spending long years and probably we can't learn alones without have lessons with natives, probably we will only use if we go to China and/or speak with natives, just because of that, Chinise have lot of speakers because they are a huge population BUT these speakers allready learn English and do businnes in English.
Can be useful if we want a job in China or work for a company Chinise but just because of that, English is must the English is much easier and simple, and use the Latin alphabet which for us is a great advantage since most of us are accustomed, and as I mentioned movies, news, series, music, etc. most are in English.
I think the number one will continued be the English and number two the Spanish :)

I don't think so. English is an ideal international language - it's easy and emotional in the same time. It's pleasant for oral speech. English is a language of technology. Many people know English nowadays. Why do we need to change it at Esperanto? I think it's a little bit stupid now :)
I think before that would happen, it would have to be demonstrated that Esperanto
can do more than another language with better ability to communicate the details of both literary expression and technology.
No. Mandarin has a better run for its money.
