Some people believe that children are given too much free time. They feel that this time should be used to do more school work. How do you think children should spend their free time? (haha do you think they should have ANY free time at all!!!??? You are asking or answering another question!)
I think children are given enough free time, not too much. We should keep balance between free time and school time. The main purpose question is how to spend the free time.
Children are at the stage of growing up, so they need more free time to exercise and play. Schoolworks is are important things, but it is not the only significant things. We should encourage children to take part in a great variety of sports, and reduce the time wasted of playing computer games. It’s a healthier lifestyle and can protect their eyesight. Through the sports, children can also learn to develop their teamwork and to interact with other children.
Parents or schools should tend attempt to arrange some meaningful activities/outings/events things, like some field trips, to gain more useful knowledge, or like visiting a museum or art gallery to learn to enjoy art and beauty - that will improve their appreciation of art ability. It will also most likely develop their creative ability and imagination.

Exam-oriented education only supports enables children to recall facts and figures remember much knowledge, but children could be do not known learn how to use them and how to create and invent. It could also harm the children’s eyesight and physical well-being (really? how?) body. Therefore, people shouldn’t just focus on reciting some poems or writing/learning some a great deal of vocabulary at an early age. As for school work, I believe parents should firstly encourage in young children a/the love of learning in their young children, based on curiosity and a respect for the intellect, rather than forcing them to study.
People should encourage children to feel the natural, to enjoy the life, even to waste their time in dreaming and imagination to image. Free time doesn’t mean/ shouldn't be frittered away playing computer games or watching TV. It means/involves ('mean' is not the right word...) making sense of interesting things, if people can arrange better spare time life for children (put this whole clause at the beginning of the sentence). I believe that the result will be an intelligent and well-balanced child who can both excels at school, and who will grow into a well-rounded adult.
Some of my 'corrections' are suggestions only. It's not at all bad, Maggie, and should easily score >6. It IS too long for an IELTS answer. There are issues of singular/plural and missing or redundant articles.
