the advantages and disadvantages about the gap year Nowadays,in some countries,more and more students are encouraged to spend a year,often called the gap year,working or traveling after they graduate from high school instead of starting their university study directly.What can young people gain from the gap year and what negative impacts the gap year may exert?In this essay,I would discuss them both. Students who experience the gap year will surely have a broader horizon,which may inspire their enthusiasm towards life.With this strong active emotion,the young will fine it more easier to pursue their dreams even though the way to success are severely tough.Moreover,a year time of working or traveling can provide perfect chances for the young individuals to get more touches with the society where communicative and interpersonal skills are cultivated which may be of great use in their later study and work life.Furthermore,one year living alone will guarantee those young people a more independent personality.When encountering with difficulties,they may probably explore the methods to tackle the problems by themselves rather than turn to others for help without trying first. But the fact that the gap year does have scores of advantages are not the same with the assuming "there are all advantages".Danger,however,exists through the whole process.The young who are only pleasureseeking may not want to go back to study academic knowledge in university but to continue this kind of lifestyle.Try to imagine all the participants quitting their study.Who will learn the science and the technology to be the driving force of the development of the whole community?On the other hand,these young individuals who just graduate from high school lack experiences in differentiating good and evil ,which may put them in a prone position to be cheated or even hurt.That is why some parents and teachers are strongly against the gap year. As the points addressed above,the gap year can bring the young a bright outlook or,on the contrary,a thorough nightmare.So it is wise for individuals to clear the merits and demerits before the step in their gap years.
