I don't believe English or any other language has an equivalent! Most of people will say "I miss you" is "Estou com saudades de ti" but it actually is "Sinto tua falta". Saudade is a much stronger word! I advise you to read this quite thorough article on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saudade My favorite definition is: "Saudade is the love that remains after somebody is gone". ^^

Putting in a simple way: it's a mixture of missing someone with nostalgia. It's also valid for things, places, situations,past...for example, "tenho saudades da minha infância", I miss so much my childhood!

Saudade means "I miss you". But this word, in Portuguese, seems to have a stronger meaning than the sentence in English... =) You can use "saudade" in sentences, such as: Estou com saudade de você. (I miss you) Tenho saudade da minha infância. (I miss my childhood). So, the verbs "estar" (to be) and "ter" (to have) may be used in the sentences with saudade.
