"Caught in the undertow" Hi. I was listening to "Numb" by Park Linkin. I didn't understand the meaning of this term. "Caught in the undertow" I'm tired of being what you want me to be Feeling so faithless lost under the surface Don't know what you're expecting of me Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes "Caught in the undertow just caught in the undertow" I'm also not sure about the meaning of "Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes" Could you please explain it? Thanks in advance.

The undertow is a current that pulls you under the surface of the water. I think it can exist in a river or the ocean. I don't think you have to worry about it in a lake.

Ok, Tumpliner has explained "undertow" perfectly, so I'll explain the other line. (I am) "Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes" means you are under the pressure of trying to understand things from another person's perspective. We have the phrase "put yourself in my shoes" to mean "try to understand things from how I see them" or "try to understand how I feel".

When a person is "Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes" Does not mean 'you are under the pressure of trying to understand things from another person's perspective. ' It means that you are put under pressure about the expectations of living the ideal life that that person lived or wants you to live.
