Can someone explain me how italki works? I can only do lessons to learn a language? I mean do I always have to pay? Or I can just talk to someone without having to pay them. (Sorry for my bad English :( ).

Well, I teach English in a university. It's my job. Can you think of any reason why I would want to spend my free time teaching someone else? If I wanted to learn another language, maybe I would find someone who would exchange classes with me. I teach them, they teach me. This is quite common, and there is a section of italki for this. I guess there are also people who want to show off, or want to meet pretty girls online (or handsome boys), or want to practise teaching. Teaching something is a good way of improving your own skill. But everyone wants something! What can you offer in exchange for help, advice and the opportunity to practise? You are getting something of value. You should offer some trade. Personally, I teach for money. BUT why do I answer questions here? Am I hoping to find more paying students? No, I answer questions here because I like doing it. All I get is satisfaction, and most people do remember to say thank you. So, you don't always have to pay, but you should be ready to offer something in exchange. Best of luck with it.

There are basically two options of getting language practice without investing money: 1) You find someone who speaks English and wants to study Greek (in your case), and you talk to each other on Skype in your languages. You just click community -> language partners and look for people who would like to study Greek. You can also set up your profile inviting people to exchange Greek practice for English. 2) If you have tough luck finding language partners, you can become a community tutor. You fill in a very straightforward form and then you can teach Greek or simply talk to people in Greek for conversation practice, whatever you'd like to do. You will get ITC for that (the italki currency, 10 ITC = $1), which you can spend on English lessons or tutoring sessions. This is basically language exchange as well, the only difference is that people you teach to and learn from are different. Some % of the transactions will go to italki, but you will be spending no "real" money. I did that when I studied Danish here. There were no Danish people who wanted exchange Danish for Russian, so I taught Russian to English speakers (or simply chatted to them in Russian for fewer ITCs) and then got Danish lessons.

You can find language exchange partners for the language you wish to learn. Click on the 'Community' button at the top of the page and then click 'Language Partners'. :)

u can find language partners for language exchange, which is free. However, if u dont have the time for language exchange , then u can pay for a professional/community teachers' lesson
