An American would say "zero point zero seven" or "point zero seven". Sometimes though, Americans will substitute the "O" letter for the zero and say "Oh point oh seven" or "point oh seven". In Europe, the "naught" would be understood as zero. It probably would be know in the U.S., but it is just unusual. This confuses a lot of foreigners.

fdmaxey is right (I have a macro on my keyboard for that phrase now ; ) in america we usually say 'oh' for zero. But we don't say 'point' if we are sayign a price. If the dollars digit is zero, we just say the cents: $0.07 = 'seven cents' $1.07 = 'one oh seven' $35.50 = "thirty-five fifty' $402.05 = "four oh two, oh five" or "four hundred and two oh five" (leaving out 'and' is correct but americans rarely do)

Zooey, thanks for correcting me. I looked at it from an engineering standpoint (can you tell I'm a computer geek?). You would never say "point" when talking about money. I must not be thinking today. My apologies, Socko. If you're talking about anything other than money, the warning about saying "oh" when we mean "zero" still holds. Usually this comes up when someone is giving their telephone number or address. When they outsourced a lot of the phone help lines to India, a lot of Indian workers on the phone didn't know about that and interpreted the "oh" in a number as the letter "O". It took a while for that to work itself through the system.

Hello, When buying something In the UK, £0.07 would be said as, seven pence. The leading zeros are omitted; they just aren't important. £0.17 = seventeen pence. £1.07 = One pound seven. £1.30 = One pound thirty. £10.05 = Ten pounds five pence / ten pounds five. £10.50 = Ten pounds fifty / ten-fifty £11.99 = Eleven ninety-nine / Eleven pounds ninety-nine. I hope this helps. All the best, Lee

For pricing, just say seven cents.
