what's the meaning of the title of "fresh off the boat"?
I recently sometimes watch clips of "fresh off the boat" on YouTube and wonder what the title acctually means or who/what
is fresh off the boat. It's obviously not a sentence. to make it a sentence or to understand the meaning by making it a sentence, I would add " "somebody" on the beggining then it will become "somebody is fresh off the boat" or just a set of words "somebody fresh off the boat".Since the series of it mainly focuses on an immgrant family, this somebody should be the family.
Is this right understanding?
I mean the title means "an immigrant family" fresh off the boat or such?

Hello, the phrase "fresh off the boat" means that someone is a recently arrived immigrant. Which means in the show that you're watching, the family is new to the country and they're "fresh off the boat". I hope this helps!

"fresh off the boat" is a phrase comes from the escape of the Vietnamese people after South Vietnam fell to the North. Most of them fled the country from the communists by boats (not ships!) to the neigboring countries as far south as to Malaysia. Because of the US had an moral obligation to them, they are then flew to the US or other farther countries by plane. Hence the original meaning is a new immigrant who does not know anything about their new home. Later, the meaning became a newbie entering into a new environment. "So you are fresh off the boat? Don't worry, after a week working here, you will become as native as us."

As I know "Fresh of ...." generally means someone who has arrived from somewhere. For example, "fresh off the fence" is a person who has been recently released from prison.
As Kevin wrote, in this case it means immigrant who arrived from abroad.
