With poetry or songs there is often an amount of poetic licence, which effectively means it can be interpreted in different ways and not necessarily literally either. To me, the 'by the way' here says "left behind". It might also be a shorter form of "by the wayside", giving a feeling that everything that went before is now irrelevant and worthless, like rubbish at the side of the road.

oh, you mean this?: "You will remember when this is blown over, And everything's all by the way, When I grow older, I will be there at your side, To remind how I still love you I still love you I still love you." I think it's too hard to understand either. "You will remember when this is blown over, And everything's all by the way,".... does it mean : "everything will come as suppose to come"? I think I too, need a life line for this. HELPPPPPP! :)

"by the way" could mean introducing a different topic or in point of fact. e.g. 'I don't think I can come to Maria's party, and by the way, if you happen to see John there, tell him to return the books he borrowed from me.' the two different topics in the above sentence is: (1) coming to Maria's party & (2) asking John to return the books. the adverb 'by the way' can also be used at the end of the sentence: " I went to see a movie this morning that's why I'm late... oh, please don't forget to bring your camera by the way. we're going to use it when we arrive at the park." :)
