A teacher has asked me to pay directly outside the ITALKI platform... I had my first lesson with Victor Manuel on 13 August. I then scheduled two more lessons with him. He later asked to change the times and dates which I was unable to do. I asked that he cancel the lessons. Unfortunately he did not. I was notified that since I did not mark the lessons as completed, they were automatically charged. At this point there were three lessons that were not completed because of his rescheduling. I asked that he refund or reschedule the lessons. He said he could not do that and that I was responsible for cancelling the lessons and because I failed to do that he could not refund. He then asked me to do lessons outside of the ITALKI platform and pay him directly through PayPal. He offered to discuss the price of this direct-to-him system which I believe is in violation of the ITALKI policies. It appears that he moves his students to a direct paying system and that lessons are not scheduled through ITALKI. This would explain why his calendar shows few if any scheduled lessons. I have used ITALKI for several years and this is the first time that I have had a negative experience. I am disappointed in the teacher’s handling of this matter. Parker Bosley

Hi, Parker. If you have screenshots where he asked you to pay him outside Italki and about the cancellations as well, please send them to the Italki team. I don´t know if you can get your money back, but you should definitely contact the support team and tell them about that. He wants you to pay him outside Italki because this way Italki won't take any comission from him, and this way he can keep all the money for himself. Anyway, keep in mind that after each lesson you receive an email from Italki. You can mark the lesson as complete and give feedback, or you can ignore the email and after 3 days the lesson will be automatically marked as completed. When you receive this email you have the opportunity to click on "there was the problem with this lesson" and inform Italki about the problem. Once a lesson is marked as completed, by you or by the system, you have less chanches of receiving your money back, but, who knows? Email Italki right away.

Send this request to the italki support, I don’t think there are language mistakes there, and your explanations are better than most reports I received when doing technical support.
