"To cross" is a verb meaning "to go across, to pass or stretch from one side to the other. to cross a road/a sea/mountains He crossed France by train. I waved and she crossed the road towards me. "Across" is a preposition meaning from one side to the other side. He walked across the field. = He crossed the field. There's a bank right across the street. "Through" - from one end or side of something/somebody to the other. The main difference between "across" and "through" is the following: "across" means "across something on the surface, on the ground" "through" means "through space". The burglar got in through the window. The path led through the trees to the river. The doctor pushed his way through the crowd.

Cross = to move, pass, or extend from one side to the other side of (a street, river, etc.). I had to CROSS the street to go to the museum. Across = from one side to the other. It is used on the surface and not inside of something. Through = to reach to the end. It is used when going inside of something 1. At that moment I was walking ACROSS the road. ( on the surface of something) 2.She climbed THROUGH the hole in the roof.( it is inside something )

Cross can be a few things, one would be an emotion similar to anger. "My parents were cross when they found out I broke the window". Cross can also be two perpendicular lines such as X, which could indicate something is wrong. This would be used in the games "noughts and crosses". When the cross is like this, +, it could sybolise the christian faith. "Jesus was nailed to the cross". Across means basically to go from one side to the other. "Using a boat makes it easier to get across the river to the other side". In this example you could subsitute "across" with "cross" but you would need to remove the verb "get" from the sentence. It would then be "Using a boat makes it easier to cross the river" Through would indicate passing through the middle of something. "I had to climb in through the window"
