Hello, it’s Marta. I was born and raised in Poland, but now I’m living in the UK. When I was a little girl I met many inspiring, knowledgeable and demanding teachers. Had it not been for their almost superhuman powers, I would not have fulfilled my long-cherished dream. Now I am an undergraduate philosophy with psychology student. Driven by the desire to support others the way I had been supported, as well as to share passion for my native language, I decided to become a Polish language teacher.

I understand that everyone is different and you cannot expect them to learn in the same way. A teacher should try to find out what works for their students every time they teach. Having been a student myself, I realised it is real-life language which plays a key role in the learning process. Instead of cramming long lists of words or complicated grammar rules, we should focus on finding examples and using them. Not only are we able to remember all the things that have been covered, but we can also appreciate and relish the language we learn (and teach!).

I believe that homework is crucial for fast learning. It saves a lot of student's time. As they have extra time to gather their thoughts, write down questions and digest the content themselves, the lessons are livelier and easier for them. Homework may vary depending on student's level as well as the skills they want to master. I like the idea of using sharing with students short YouTube videos, memes, vocabulary sets on Quizlet, online articles etc. When it comes to lessons, I like to discuss whatever is interesting for my interlocutor.
