Can you explain your teaching philosophy and how you adapt your methods to meet the diverse needs of university students, particularly in a Japanese academic environment? My teaching philosophy is based on the idea that “the more students understand, the more they enjoy learning.” I always keep this in mind when I teach. In Japan, as in many other countries, professors must consider diversity, including factors like gender and disability. I adapt to these evolving needs by collaborating with experts in these areas. Each university typically has specialists who assist both teachers and students in creating a more inclusive educational environment. These experiences have introduced significant changes, but I view change as an opportunity for growth and improvement. Flexibility is a key part of my resilience. Throughout my academic journey, I’ve faced various changes—such as switching majors, working with different supervisors, and transitioning between departments. While some of these changes were unexpected, I’ve successfully adapted by identifying the necessary skills and learning them. My ability to consistently deliver high-quality results shows that I’m effective at managing change and supporting diverse student needs.

When we Chinese describe someone who considered talented and sharp in creative, some people tend to use the Chinese idiom “七步之才”. It comes from a gripping story about a royal family in ancient history. Let me tell it briefly. Once there were two brothers contending for the position of king, and the elder one won through a rough time finally. But the new king hated and took jealousy from his brother, who was more talented on literature than himself. Holding certain attempts, the king wanted to kill his brother by some tricks. So the king gave an order to his brother, composing a poem within the time during taking seven regular paces, as well as his brother was being put to death in case without a good effect. Although it was extremely challenging, the king’s brother made it incredibly. In the poem, the two brothers figuratively were seen as green beans and the branches of beans separately, why green beans would get boiled via burning the branches that come from the same one seed(parents). In the end, the king realized the poem and let his brother run away.

Do you check messages and watch videos before bed? My answer is Yes! Living in such a period that we almost can't do anything without our phones. Only we close our eyes after falling asleep, the world can be quiet! So, if we want to have a bedtime routine, it must begin at the moment that we put away our phone. If not, we can't do anything except texting back and forth until midnight. The light from the screen usually makes us to be hard to fall asleep. Without the phone, reading books may be the first choice comes into our mind, especially with our children. We call it “Story Time” . Besides reading, enjoying some light music can really help you have a good sleep. You can even set a certain time for the music on a n app until you fall asleep and the music turn off itself. Taking a bath can be another great thing worth doing before bed. The feeling of warm water flowing through your body can quickly take away the fatigue. You will faal asllep in a short time later and have a sweet dream throughout the whole night.
