Xizang schools start new semester two months after earthquake Students from three severely-shattered townships chorus with students from Beijing, capital of China, and Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, via video link during a ceremony marking the new semester at a temporary site in Dingri County, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region, March 5, 2025. Two months after a 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Dingri County, home to the northern base camp of the world's highest peak, Mount Qomolangma, thousands of children were able to return to class to start the new semester, as builders raced against time in conducting reconstruction work. Students from the 79 schools affected by the earthquake resumed classes as scheduled on Wednesday, together with all other students in the city of Xigaze, southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region. These 79 schools in the county suffered various degrees of damage during the quake, which claimed 126 lives back in January. Among these, 76 schools have met safety standards after being repaired and reinforced. Dear X, Thank you for your emails and your interest to teach Chinese. Would appreciate if you can write to us with other email address, ie. Gmail, icloud or yahoo. Tell us more about yourself when you email us with the new email. Thanks. Blessings, OM Representative Dear OM Representative, Thanks for your email . It was good to hear from you . I chose to work for a 501(c)(3) charitable organization after graduating because I considered spiritual life a priority. The co-founders consider the organization as an "apostolic hobby". I am the only child in my family because of the one child policy. That's why I am really eager to learn the love of God. I remember when I traveled in the United States, a Sister who passed away last year, said that "You can treat us as your sisters." I am working at xx as a teaching assistant and have obtained the CELT-P (Certificate in English Language Teaching – Primary) qualification. But I am more comfortable with teaching Mandarin Chinese because it’s my native language. I am passionate about language teaching; I teach Mandarin on a Hong Kong website where most of my students are westerners. I am eager to take on meaningful work related to my passion. Blessings, X

Small English mistakes can make you sound unprofessional. And the worst part? You might not even realize you're making them! Imagine this… You're in an important meeting. You say, "I am agree." No one corrects you, but they notice the mistake. Or you send an email saying, "I need an advice." It seems small, but to a native speaker, it sounds wrong. Little mistakes like these can affect how people see you. So, let’s fix them right now. Here are 10 common mistakes that professionals make—and how to correct them: ❌ "I am agree" → ✅ "I agree" ❌ "Can you repeat again?" → ✅ "Can you repeat?" ❌ "I am working in this project." → ✅ "I am working on this project." ❌ "I have a good news." → ✅ "I have good news." ❌ "Let’s discuss about this." → ✅ "Let’s discuss this." ❌ "I will explain you." → ✅ "I will explain to you." ❌ "I need an advice." → ✅ "I need advice." ❌ "He is married with Sarah." → ✅ "He is married to Sarah." ❌ "It depends of the situation." → ✅ "It depends on the situation." ❌ "I didn’t knew that." → ✅ "I didn’t know that." Good communication isn't just about what you say. It’s also about how you say it. Which mistake surprised you the most? Let me know in the comments!
